New Poll.

I wanted to ask several follow-ups to this one asking what is the nature of marriage.

Such as:

Who should determine whether or not you, an adult, should get married?
A. You and your partner
B. Your parents
C. The church
D. The government

And:
Is a sexless marriage possible?
-Yes
-No

And:
In order to be considered legitimate, must a marriage produce children?
-Yes
-No

And several others.  Unfortunately, Bravenet only lets me have one question at a time.

(One church shouldn't be able to prohibit anyone from marrying, but no church/preacher should be coerced into performing the ceremony either.)

And:

Sure, but what's the point?

And:
In order to be considered legitimate, must a marriage produce children?
No, though providing stability for children is one of the benefits of marriage.

Who is suggesting that churches should be coerced into performing the ceremony? Just as in straight marriages, individual churches have the ability to decline to marry any couple.

Ask those men who are too old for their pee-pees to function. Ask those who get their penis accidentally removed by incompetent doctors. Ask those paralyzed from the waist down.

One of the benefits, yes. But is it the purpose of marriage? No.
