Interesting...to me it looks like the mating of a Ford KA and a 2-door Toyota Yaris, with some Italian flair thrown in for good measure. I notice in the article that this car will be built in the same plant in Poland as the next Ford KA, and I'm thinking even the current KA would sell well here if they could start 'em out at $8,000 or so. I mean, they sell 'em and maybe make 'em in Mexico, and they're certainly proven technology, being based, as they are, on an older version of the European Ford Fiesta, and with a 40-some-year-old 4 cylinder "Kent" pushrod engine, which has been used extensively in Formula Ford racing, so it oughta be pretty reliable. This 500, or "cinquecento," in dago-speak, may be replacing the Fiat Seicento (600 in American-speak) which was, at least the 1999 incarnation, a very ugly little clown-car of a hatchback, so I, for one, welcome the replacement.
