One of those W.A.D.s*

My car radio is receiving WRVR FM out of Memphis more clearly than any local stations this morning. In fact, I think it may have bumped a more local station of the same frequency.

WRVR is 167.83 miles away.

The station, from what I've heard so far, sucks mightily.

* W.A.D.: noun, "Weird Atmosphere Day."

Dude, with the extreme heat this summer, the Joplin TV stations sometimes come in really well at night-I think the heat and atmospheric clarity have to be at work here, as normally the TV picks up nothing on channels 7, 12, and 16. And for that matter, with an older, crappier TV I had that had a better receiver, I'd occasionally get the Fayetteville, Arkansas, stations under similar conditions. You might try the non-commercial band (87.9-91.9 FM) and see if that ... okay, it's 88.3 FM, KABF (kabf.org)...out of Little Rock, will come in on your radio. I was getting them all the time driving from Poplar Bluff to the farm after work, and they'd play all sorts of groovy stuff like Liz Phair singing "F*ck and Run," as well has having the college-radio stoned DJs in control all the time. Fun.
