1-800-362-0796
I've been getting a lot of hang-up calls lately, and it's always from one of two 800 numbers, the above one and another.
When I dial this number to find out what the f*ck they want, I get one of those fast busy signal type things.
So I try the "one number off" approach. 1-800-362-0795 is apparently an ambulance-chasing law firm called Best & Anderson, or some name that sounds similar to that.
1-800-362-0797 cannot be reached from my calling area.
It happened last night, only they didn't hang up. My mother answered the phone and they asked for me. When she asked who she could say was calling, the woman said "Selena." My mom said to hold on, she'd see if I could come to the phone.
And the caller hung up.
This morning, I googled the number and found a few messages. Apparently it's from one of the free magazine services. Thing is, I don't think I've ever given them my number. I've always said I don't have a phone, which is technically true. It's in my mother's name, not mine.
I am not a happy camper.

I'm getting the same damn thing! I'm glad it's not just me - I'm mad that it's not just me! Stupid telemarketers... I called the operator, to try reverse look-up - you can't do that with an 800#. Yay, that makes me happy. So what do I do? I put it in a search engine & here I am! I'm on the nat'l do not call list, too. So I guess I'll have to report these people. Go to the website for the DNC list and it has a spot to report companies. Complain! That will get their attention and send them a message that "it's MY phone, dammit, and I didn't give you permission to call!" Yeah (I feel tough now) Ha!
Me too...same exact thing...They asked for my wife but I pressed them because of the number of recent hangups....They also said it was salina...when I asked "salina who?" the girl hung up....Man I am pissed....going to report them onth DNC list asap
I've been getting this # (800-362-0796) alot lately too so I decided to type it into Google and I had 5 results come up...yours was 3 of the results and I cant't remember what one of them was but the other was from a man that said this number kept coming up for him and he traced it to the Wachovia bank in Texas and they wanted him to deposit money in his account...they were very rude to him when he asked them not to call before 11:00AM or after 6:00PM and I guess the phone calls from his bank just keep continuing...I'd be dumping that bank right now if I were him! Now, at least I know I'm not the only one receiving these annoying calls,but they seem to have different origins...
I recieved a call from this same number as well. She said her name was Brandy and she was tryin to make me subscribe to several magazines for around $21 a month. She started asking me credit card questions, but when I questioned her she hung up. It made me think that she was tryin to con me or possibly perform some type of identity theft. Please post any updates.
Following up my last post. They knew i was subcribed to Maxim magazine. I was curious if these people where local and how they got my number as well as yours. Im located in eastern PA. You guys close?
Yep. Same here in Omaha. Getting one call a day for the last week. I have the same free subsciption to Maxim. They just hang up everytime.
I've been getting the same calls. They ask for me, and when I say speaking... they say hello or something, then hang up. When I ask them who is calling, they hang up. I got the number from *69 and attempted to call them back and I got the fast busy signal.
I have been getting the same kind of calls over the past few weeks (located in NYC) and will report them as well.
I am getting the same on both my house number and my cell number i have just registered a complaint now x2 for each number. hopefully it will stop now

Me too. I even ordered some call sreening service from Comcast and it wouldn't let me block calls from that number. Screw you 1-800-362-0796! I want off this crappy call list.

Me too.. Im so sick of them calling every time I answer they hang up on me. I have several 800 numbers calling me and they all seem to hang up or if someone does talk and I start to tell them to take me off your list they just hang up on me Im sooo sick of them I want to change my number but if I change it will they find it again what do I do?

File a complaint at that link. I did! But you have to have been registered for at least 31 days to file the online complaint. Yes, I, too, have received solicitation calls from 800-362-0796 and yes, they suck.
I get the same calls, 2 or 3 times a day the last one half an hour ago when I was putting my kids to bed. No one ever there, real annoying. I notice a pattern here, everyone is a Maxim or Stuff subscriber. Any connection? Did they sell our number. I reported a few days ago cause I'm on dnc to and I'm going to report again! i want this to stop and I can't make them go away!
8:45 pm here, just got a call from them! I didn't say hello, just picked up and sat there, they hung up eventually. With all of these comments, there has to be something able to be done about this. We subscribe to Playboy - not Stuff or Maxim...there's another magazine to add to the mystery!
I also subscribe to Playboy, and have been getting these calls sometimes two or three times a day.
I just used that donotcall link, thanks. It's June 24, 2006. We used to subscribe to Maxim. I got another call yesterday from 800-272-2910 that did the same hangup on me as today's call from 800-362-0796.

Just got a call from 800-362-0796...they asked for Donnie Osmond...odd. So I Googled the number and wound up here, too. A few days ago, someone identifying himself as being w/Playboy called. I subscribe to Playboy for my hubby every year and asked if I could help him...he hung up and I didn't think anything of it. It is just odd that they asked for my husband (then Donnie Osmond). I don't subscribe to Maxim.
I only subscribe to Playboy...who I would think has higher business standards than to buy phone numbers. A few days ago I got a call from someone identifying himself as Aaron from Playboy, asking for my husband. I told him that I subscribe as a b-day gift every year for my hubby. I asked if I could help him (hubby sleeping). He hung up...seems like a pattern. A few minutes ago 800-362-0796 called and asked for Donnie Osmond...odd. If it were really Maxim or Playboy calling, I am sure they would be happy to talk to me (I hold the purse strings around here). I am just TOO SICK of this s*it!
I am subcribed to Playboy and I am actually leaving on in California. I just got two calls in the last hour from 1-800-272-2910... I am going to report them right now!!! I hope it will work.

They keep calling me but no one's ever there. I called their number and I get a busy signal. If they don't answer or talk to you, what's their game?

Yeah, same number for me today. Who are these people? They asked to speak to me, and I said they were'nt in but could I take a message. Then they just hung up!! Someone needs to investigate who this company is or what is going on here.
I started getting calls from 800-272-2910 & 800-362-0796 about 2 months ago, after I subscribed to Playboy mag. Apparently Playboy and these other mags are selling their customer information. Told Playboy don't bother renewing my subscription. Question: How do you post complaint with just the phone number, don't you need company name?
Hey - same story here. 8 damn phone calls in the last 2 days (4 of them on Sunday) *69'd 'em and got a number of 800-272-2910.
Gonna report them - I'm on my states dnc list. BTW I'm in southern Indiana.
Getting the same two numbers here in far west Kentucky. No one ever on the line. Calls always during business hours, that is none before 7AM and none after 10PM.
Anyone tried to complain to phone company security? They usually refer you to the police. First thing the police do is contact phone company security who will give them the number but not you. So then what do the cops do? File it and move on.
Anyone figure out how to handle this, please post immediately!
Just got another call from 800-272-2910. It is Sunday in West Kentucky. Call was at 1239PM Noon.
I decided to play along and guy identified himself (can't remember name) He asked for me by name. Said he was calling about my Playboy prescription, etc. when I cut him off and told him I had reported him to the government. He said he would remove my name from calling list. He claimed to have no knowledge of 800-362-0796.
Disgusted in Kentucky.
I, too, am getting sick and tired of these calls from 800-272-2910 and 800-362-0796. VERY annoying, especially when they started calling Sunday evenings. We don't get Maxim or Stuff either but we do get Playboy, so don't know what any of them have to do with either of these numbers and I'll be damned if I'm going to answer the phone when these clowns call, so I guess I won't find out. Hell, they're probably all a bunch of lying bastards anyway. Oh, did I say that? Whoever they are I wish they'd go "boink" theirself!! A lot of good it did to get on the No Call list. What a bunch of crap!
